This delightful family run guest house is on the outskirts of the ancient coastal village of Porlock. It stands in 4 acres of mature gardens, and has been tastefully modernised to provide 22 bedrooms. All the rooms have complimentary trays, and some are now equipped with televisions. The centre is fully centrally heated and has a commanding position with views over the surrounding vales. The house also has a  dining room, lounge bar and a drying room. Their catering has a reputation amongst walkers for ‘good home-cooked food’. Overall this is an excellent centre to get away from it all!

Sun    Full English Breakfast 8.30 am and a picnic lunch

* There is no prearranged  meal on the Friday Night. Should you wish to eat at the house on Friday, they will happily open the kitchen for you 7 - 9pm.  Alternatively The Oak pub in the village serves meals until 10pm.

Changing facilities may also be made available on the Sunday Evening.

The typical walking programme:  The area is perfect for all levels and ability of walkers, with pleasant gentle strolls, and also some more challenging walks over the moors. To allow you to explore this region to the maximum during your visit, WalkWise UK would suggest that you include the following areas into your itinerary:

To allow you to choose a walk that suits you best, WalkWise UK will provide a minimum of two walks on each day, led by professional and knowledgeable walking guides. On both days there will be a hard walk of 10-12 miles and an easier walk of 6-8 miles with less ascent.  We can offer a full range of grades at this centre please check that the grades offered are suitable for your group.

Around the Guesthouse: For those of you who have not explored this region, there are many ancient villages in the immediate area, such as Dunster with its yarn market and castle, Exford, Lynmouth, and Lynton, The Doone Valley around which Blackmore’s story was based- Oare Church being where Lorna Doone was reputed to have been shot. In addition there are some fantastic cream teas to be sought out!
