Beautifully situated at the head of the Hope Valley in the Peak District National Park, Castleton shelters beneath the Norman ruin of Peveril Castle (English Heritage) and is overlooked by Mam Tor, topped by a Bronze and Iron Age hillfort and known as the `shivering mountain' because of its instability.

The first day's walks go through the beautiful dark peak, with its grit stone edges, open moorland plateaus and colourful valleys.  The next day we do the famous circular walk from Castleton around Mamtor Ridge.
