Scotland conjures up so
many unique images. Its many castles, battles, heritage and culture spring to
mind. The highlands endear images where you tackle the steep rugged
mountain heights, visit fascinating islands, navigate down lochs and whistle as
you walk through the winding glens. South of the highlands are
inspirational images of picture postcard forests, rolling hills, country estates
and pretty villages. Finally, the Scotland of the borders, a land where
one strolls the softer scenery and gentle hills and learns of architecture and
poets such as Robbie Burns.

There are the remote
crofters' cottages where a natural but tough life was spent digging the peat for
the daily fire. There are also the famous long haired highland
cattle. Scotland has its own wildlife too! Capercaillie (a large
European woodland grouse) of the Caledonian pine forests and ptarmigan (artic
Grouse) of the heather moorlands and white mountain hares in the highlands.
