Llanwrtyd Wells claim to fame is that it is Britain's smallest town and home to the world bog snorkelling championships!   This Victorian spa town has preserved its period character well, with a number of hotels and busy guest houses.  Today, the town on the banks of the River Irfon, is at the gateway to a large area of wildernesses, great for walkers, cyclists and pony-trekkers alike.

The Irfon Valley is typified by secluded valleys nestled in the rolling hills over which the Red Kites sour. There are many routes along tumbling Irfon that lead through the lush forests and across the open moors  providing interesting views over the whole area.

By contrast  the equally beautiful area around Builth Wells, is dominated by the wide open river valley of the Wye and the rolling grassy countryside.  With relative ease the perimeter escarpments of the moors can be reached and the myriad of paths ensures that there are suitable walks for all abilities.
