What a great weekend, lots of laughs, lots of effort, lots of personal challenges.... well done you you all!!! On Friday night some old friends and some fresh faces too me tin the bar, but soon we were just one happy group ready for the challenge!!
We started off just north ot Leek and simply headed north in a bid to walk across the Peak District National Park! It started off well but rather hot and it was the fear of heat and sunstroke that was upmost in our mind when we began. True to form the heat and humidity began to build then... rained just as we go to the summit!!! Amazingly the girls continued to shine in their new wetweather outfits and we refused to let it damped our spirits.. there were even dimples in the smiles!! Suitably refreshed we pressed on to the shelter of the trees, where the walkwise guides were put to the test with a decomposing boot!!! The sole fell off miles from anywhere!!! No panic it still felt ok!!! Note to self... much better to buy your own boots and break them in... than borrow them from a friend who you may have inadvertently upset somewhere hidden deep in time!
But we kept at it and the boot made it to the end just! We then had time to mellow at the hotel spa before dinner then everyone vanished from the bar, leaving Don asleep on the sofa in the bar...ah bless! The next day the sun came out for the start and we could actually see the pub from the car park and this time the sun was blazing!!! We ascended over Shining Tor, into the Goyt valley and onwards to wards our final destination, a great day...enjoy the photos below...it was fun!! Congtratulations everyone!!
