A superb weekend away. (link to photos) We stayed at the lovely Forset side at Grasmere. Sadly their hungry and coldbadgers didnt come out and entertain us but it was rather frosty. In fact the snows have lain for nealry a month on the high fells making life rather interesting for the guides and walkers alike. Quite sensibly we reined the egos in and decided to be slightlty sensible. This weekend Andrew Casey was my fellow guide and he headed out for a perfect saturday, keeping below the main snows he headed over Steel Fell, Seargent Man, blea rigg and came back down into grasmere where he met a very mellow party who'd wandered over white moss common, loughrigg, to todd cragg, ambleside, had tea cakes and snacks in rydal before having a few beers in the pub, where we all watch the rubgy and tango man became the tallest biggest man he'd always wished!
Sunday carried on the same albeit with slighly heavy heads, Andy headed high for Fairfield but upon encountering snow ice, fog and also being hungry! Then beat a very sensible retreat to the valleys below. Meanwhile the others wandered over Huntingstile gaining great views over langdale before wandering past elterwater to skelwith bridge, and highly tasty snacks at one of the best cafes in the lakes ( the afternoon tiffin is amazing) Then we past the biggest bird feeder in the world, well done neum crag!!!! Before skirting loughrigg tarn and visiting the gooseanders, golden eye and countless tufties on Grasmere!
And all that in just a weekend! Great Days, See you all soon
