Hello all,
So a few days on, nearly a week in fact since we started our little epic, and I hope the legs are beginning to move a little more freely?? My boots are nearly dry!!!!! The kit is beginning to loose that odd damp smell!!!! And I just want to say another big 'Well Done' to you all
I know people signed up to the challenge with different personal goals; for some the 24hr period was significant while for others doing the 3 mountains back to back in any time period was a target. For some simply doing as much as they could on the 3 largest mountains in the UK was a very real achievement.
I sincerely hope that on reflection the effort, cost and suffering has been worth it; that you know each other better, know yourself better, have shared in a very real challenge and feel significant personal reward - The 3 Peaks is a hard challenge in 24 hrs - it takes physical and mental resolve to endure the conditions that were bestowed upon us all last weekend. The event is difficult enough, but torrential rains make it doubly so!!! Its an awful long time since I have been soooooo wet-and this is the b-b-q summer in the middle of a drought!!! Do the weathermen actually have an office window to look out of!!
But back to the challenge, along the way I observed numerous feats of strength, resolve and compassion in very testing conditions - so you should all be very pleased with your efforts congratulations to you all, you are all stars
Best wishes, Don
